Frequently Asked Questions - Swimming pools/Spa
Which is better: a gunite concrete pool, a Compact pool or an above-ground pool?
It depends on budget, plot and timeline: a gunite concrete pool is the definitive built option — fully customisable in shape and size, and the one with the greatest durability and added home value; a Compact pool is a prefabricated shell installed in a fraction of the time at a fixed price; and an above-ground pool is the most affordable entry, with no construction work. As a rule: concrete for the forever pool, Compact for built quality in record time, above-ground when budget or plot decide.
How much does a gunite concrete pool cost?
The price of a gunite pool depends mainly on the size of the shell: our Classic models range from 5x3 to 10x5 metres, with prices published on each product so you can compare without surprises. On that basis, the final cost varies with the terrain, the finishes and the extras (heating, cover, lighting). Our gunite pool projects are carried out in Spain — contact us for no-obligation advice.
What size pool do I need for my garden?
As a quick guide: a 5x3 or 6x4 pool is the ideal format for mid-size plots and family swimming and play; from 7x4 and 8x4 you can already swim comfortably; and the 9x4.5 and 10x5 formats suit large plots or daily swimmers. Bear in mind that besides the shell you will need deck space around it. If your space is tight, a Compact pool or a spa makes better use of the metres.
What is a Compact pool and how long does installation take?
A Compact pool is a one-piece prefabricated shell with built-in steps that arrives ready from the factory: it does not require the full construction work of a traditional pool, so installation comes down to excavation, placement and connection — days rather than months. It is the fastest route to a permanent, quality pool, with a fixed price from the very start.
What should I consider before buying a home spa or hot tub?
Three things: the location (it needs a firm, level base, outdoors or in a ventilated indoor space), a suitable electrical connection for the model, and delivery access, as spas are bulky units. In return, a spa can be enjoyed 365 days a year with very simple water maintenance using its own specific chemistry.
My pool is old or leaking — can it be renovated?
Yes: pool renovation lets you renew the shell without building from scratch — from waterproofing with reinforced membrane to renewing the coping, tiles or equipment. It is the usual solution for pools with leaks, worn coatings or a dated look, at a cost far below that of a new pool. You will find the materials and solutions in our pool renovation range.
What maintenance does pool or spa water need?
The essentials are keeping the disinfection and pH of the water balanced with regular testing, relying on daily filtration, and using products suited to your type of pool — spa water, due to its temperature, needs its own chemistry. At Piscina y Spa you will find complete maintenance kits, clarifiers and filter cleaners from specialist brands such as AquaFinesse or AquaKristal, plus the full water-treatment range.
